The VTA’s 2021 annual scholarships were
awarded to the following

Kelsey Nolan

Kelsey (daughter of Detective Sergeant Aimee Nolan) graduated from Spaulding High School in 2018 and was a member of the National Honor Society.  She is a Doctor of Pharmacy Student at the University of Rhode Island, in Kingston RI and this fall will be entering her fourth of six years.  Kelsey was an outstanding soccer player from Kindergarten through High School and excelled as a full-back defender, and she also played tennis in high school.  She’s honored to receive a VPA scholarship and extends her gratitude to her VSP family.

Emma Notte

This fall, Emma Notte, a 2021 graduate of Rutland High School, will attend the University of Vermont. She is majoring in early childhood education and a minor in special education. Emma enjoyed working with children as a camp counselor at the Rutland recreation department for the past four years and is looking forward to a career in education.

Ethan Notte

Ethan Notte is a 2019 graduate of Rutland High School. He is a junior at the University of Vermont, majoring in exercise science. Ethan enjoyed playing several sports while in high school and discovered his passion, exercise training.  Ethan is very active in Greek life at UVM and is pursuing a career in physical therapy in the future.

Hayden Paquette

Hayden graduated from BFA-St. Albans, Class of 2021, and is attending Drexel University in Philadelphia, where he will be majoring in Engineering. While at BFA, He was involved in basketball, soccer, and the Scholars Bowl team. Since middle school, Hayden has enjoyed volunteering with the Bakersfield Haunted Forest, doing everything from planning, setting up, and acting as a tour guide.

Hayden is an avid disc golfer, fisherman, hunter, and enjoys spending time in the gym with friends. He has a love of music and enjoys playing the guitar which and constantly teach es herself new songs.  Hayden is excited to begin this adventure in Philadelphia. He appreciates being a recipient of this scholarship from the VTA.

Connor Carbo

Connor graduated from U-32 High School in 2018. After high school, Connor continued to play junior hockey for the Vermont Lumberjacks in the Eastern Hockey League in his pursuit of playing college hockey. In late December of 2019, Connor was recruited to play hockey for the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. Wentworth is a Division III NCAA school playing in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. In January of 2020, Connor achieved his goal of playing college hockey, making his first start in goal, and picking up his first college win.

Connor is majoring in Business Management with a focus in Project Management.

Ethan Notte

VTA/ EPIC RISK SOLUTIONS SCHOLARSHIP
Julia Ballinger is the daughter of Robin and Owen Ballinger (Acting Station Commander of the St. Johnsbury Barracks). Julia graduated from North Country Union High School in Newport, Vermont where she played varsity soccer and ice hockey. She’s attending Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA. Julia is pursuing a degree in Health Services and will be playing ice hockey for the AmCats.
